The last time Emerald had been in the Trophy Room was in her third year, when she'd received detention for something or other (probably not paying attention, knowing her). She could remember, to this day, the disgusting heavy smell of dust in the air, accumilated over the years as the cabinets seemed to be only cleaned once every five years or so by a student serving detention - which meant that they would be cleaned only half-heartedly. Peering around the shadowy room now, her jaw was set as she remembered how the Professor sat and watched over her for two and a half hours solidly as she cleaned the trophies and medals in punishment. What an idiot.
Today, however, she wasn't in the Trophy Room because of detention. Instead, she'd been searching for her friend all over the castle when she'd accidently walked into here by mistake through the back door and it had managed to get stuck. Or maybe it had resealed itself - the doors and stairs at Hogwarts liked playing tricks on the students. All of this resulted in a certain Malfoy being in a bad mood, angry at herself for having to emerge out of the room looking like a nerd once she actually found the front door.

Draco was Just doing his rounds. It was his turn to be on duty. He walked down the center of the hallway listening to Peeves out on the staircase making unnecessary noise. Draco was just passing the Trophy Room when he heard something. He froze. stepping a little closer to the door, he heard what sounded like cursing and footsteps. Draco pulled out his warn. "Alohomora." He said softly and the door swung open.
Keeping his wand out, he stepped into the dim room. Draco didn't speak. He moved silently between the dusty trophy's and stands. He caught the sight of blond hair. "Who is in here?" He then asked. His voice was forceful and commanding. He was about to use his wand to stop the person from getting too far away when he turned a corner and stepped into the next aisle. 'Emerald?" He said upon seeing her daughter retreating back. "What are you doing in here?"

Gazing at all the trophies and medals, Emerald noticed a reoccurance in the form of 'Prefect' written on many of them. She herself had never been made prefect; she was far too unresponsible to hold such a title, despite the fact she and her brother held so much power within the Slytherin house. Not one of her ancestors had failed to be placed within the house (or those that had were disowned immediately and never heard of again). A stern voice made her physically jump, not hearing anyone else enter the room after her and she instanteously whipped out her wand from her robes, turning to face the direction of the voice with her wand held in front of her.
She had no qualms about hexing someone, it was basically what all this 'education' was for. Stuff needing it for a job, Emerald knew it was only so they knew how to defend themselves in the future. Plus, when would she ever be getting a job? Never. She had much more interesting things to do with her time. Stepping back quietly as she heard footsteps advance, her heart started to race until the figure of her father came round the corner. "Dad. "She greeted him and sighed in relief, her shoulders dropping and a small smile appearing on her face.
Lowering her wand, she heard his question and shrugged somewhat lazily. "I was just..." Emerald gestured openly with her left hand, waving it towards the displays. "... admiring the trophies?" Uncertainity was thick in her voice before she grinned cheekily. "The doors don't like me, it sealed itself after letting me in and I couldn't find the way out." She was now pointing at the direction from which she had entered (the opposite direction in fact to Draco). Stowing her wand away in her robes and stepping nearer her father, she asked him offhandedly, "What are you doing in here anyway?"

When Draco was almost upon the person, his eyes widened as he spotted the wand pointed at him. "Dad." He heard and lifted his eyes from the wand to those of his daughter. He lowered his own wand and smiled back. He had scared her, he could see that but at the same time, he had always taught her to never let her guard down.
When he spoke to her, she shrugged "I was just..." Emerald gestured openly with her left hand, waving it towards the displays. "... admiring the trophies?" She told him and Draco looked around smiling. He assumed that she had somehow gotten in the room and then became lost. "The doors don't like me, it sealed itself after letting me in and I couldn't find the way out." She said pointed of to the rear of the room.
Draco knew that the door led to a secret entrance. He frowned. "You know that is out of bounds." He told her. "You have know idea of the things that have been found in the castle. Dangers." He took pity. "What are you doing in here anyway?" Emerald asked him. "I heard all the noise in here and thought someone may have broken in." He replied as her put a hand on her shoulder and turned her towards the door out. "Walk." He told her. Draco followed behind his daughter.

Emerald frowned as her father spoke about the place being out of bounds, the expression looking almost exactly the same as the one on the man's face. Yes, it was definitely clear to see that they were father and daughter just from their little mannerisms - most of Emerald's were of course picked up from Draco from a young age. "Dad, I can look after myself now." The road to being an independent woman was always going to be a rocky one, especially for Em who not only had her father watching over her, but her older brother Scorpius too. It was going to be hard to break free from their watchful eyes.
"'Dangers' don't scare me." It was funny how when she was younger, she'd always tell herself that she was always going to be the youngest of the family and therefore act as the perfect daughter, knowing that she'd get whatever she wanted. Now, however, her teenage hormones had made her start to rebel and break free from her parents, no matter whether she liked it or not. To be honest, she liked some aspects of it, but her want to make her parents proud often made her dislike her own rebelling as well.
She laughed at Draco's next words, her eyes twinkling and her mouth curving upwards into a smile. "Broken in? I need to break out of this place, more like." She felt his heavy hand on her shoulder, steering her towards to the right direction, and followed his command to move forwards. "I think I would've been stuck in here all night if you hadn't found me." Emerald occupied herself whilst walking before examining the trophies quickly as she passed them. Yet more Prefect or Head Boy/Girl titles were seen on them. Merlin, did any normal students win anything back in the years gone by?

"Dad, I can look after myself now." Emerald told him and Draco nodded. He knew she could and that was what made this so hard. Her before him was his little girl. His only daughter and she was growing up right beofe his eyes. When he had been young, he had been mean and selfish. He had not for one moment thought that he could truely love another. He had never even loved his parents. Respected them...feared them...of course but not loved.
Now here he was with two children growing up and moving on with their own lives and Draco did not want to let go. "'Dangers' don't scare me." She told him and Draco shook his head. "Well when it comes to you, they scare me." He told her. She laughed when he mentioned someone breaking in. "I think I would've been stuck in here all night if you hadn't found me." She old him and Draco smiled. "No doubt." He replied messing her hair playfully.

"I'm not five years old anymore." She told him, although in some ways she wished she was that age again. Everything was so simple when you were young; you had no responsiblities, no worries, you didn't have to attend school. Your life revolved around eating, playing and trying your hardest to go to bed later than your parents wanted. "I'm nearly seventeen you know." Okay, maybe not for another nine months, but it was soon enough. Emerald couldn't wait until she was legal and could do magic whenever and wherever she wanted. She'd be able to Apparate instead of Flooing and try out new spells in private without the Professors at Hogwarts breathing down her neck. There were plenty of spells in the books at home that she wanted to try out. A malicious grin appeared on her face as she realised just how free she would be when she turned seventeen.
Feeling him mess up her head, she ducked away from him to prevent any further damage to her hair and turned around, catching his wrist and noticing the smile on his face. "Heyyy, that wasn't fair!" She whined, patting her hair back down with her free hand. Emerald laughed and pushed his chest back playfully before stepping backwards. It wasn't the greatest of ideas as the back of her legs collided with a free standing display cabinet, causing it to rock and looking as though it was about to fall over. Em wasn't normally a clumsy person - she held as much grace as her grandmother Narcissa did, but when she was fooling around she often forgot all her inforced lady-like actions.

"Heyyy, that wasn't fair!" emerald cried as she grabbed his arm. Draco let his daughter over power him. He smiled and was about to say something when she backed into a heavy and large display cabinet. Draco watched as it rocked. It tipped dangerously to wards Emerald and the trophies began to slide. Draco jumped forward and grasped her around the arm. He he at the same time, pulled out his wand once more. Draco pointed the wand at he cabinet.
"Imobilous." He said loudly and everything around them froze. Even the dust particles in the air were frozen in place. Draco looked down at Emerald who he had pulled against his chest. He released her now. "Are you okay?" He asked her. He stepped up to the cabinet and straightened it. He slid the trophies back into place. "And in regards to how old you are," Draco said as he worked. "You will always need your father." He turned to wards her and grinned. "Lets get out of here before you kill us both."

[ meh, i hate college. sorry about the late reply! ]
Emerald felt her father grab her arm, pulling her towards him as the cabinet toppled slowly her way. She moved towards the older man, darting around the edge of the cabinet as the sound of the trophies screeching across the surface they were on echoed around the dusty room. Hearing Draco cast the Immobulis spell, she mentally swore at herself for not thinking as quick as him. Sure, she had had less experience and practice than him at using magic in real life situations, but Emerald strived to be a good witch, and she should've thought of using Immobulis as soon as she'd backed into the cabinet.
Feeling him let go of her, she nodded and quickly answered his question "I'm fine, stuff like that seems to happen on a daily basis at Hogwarts." Her lips curled into a grin before she watched as he put everything back into it's proper place. Her smile was rapidly dropped Em rolled her eyes at his next statement. "Alright, alright, if it'll keep you happy." Her family's happiness was one of the only ones she cared for, as well as her closest friends. Anyone else could wallow in self-pity and unhappiness for the rest of their lives, for all she cared. "I think that's a good idea - but I don't know why I've been so accident prone today" She joked, waiting for Draco to lead the way out as she had no idea where the exit was.
